Started a small women-owned business to provide quality writing and editing services at lower costs, targeting small businesses and nonprofit organizations. Customers have included Precor, RedHawk Fire and Security, Highlands Community Church, and Precision Alarm, among others.

Instructor, Bellevue Community College, Fall 2000 to 2002.
Taught "Editing Online Documentation" in a computer laboratory setting. Prepared lessons, in-class exercises, workshops, and assignments.

Technical Writer and Editor, Superior Design, 1996 to 2001.
Provided technical editing and writing services for The Boeing Company as a contractor.

  • Writer for organizations under Computer and Network Operations, which includes development of web sites, presentations, communications plans, web development guidelines, and web templates for organizations that support the computing network and computing infrastructure.
  • Creative Director for a web team of 20 high-tech professionals. Facilitated customers from all levels of management through the creative process of analyzing what they want, planning the project, and translating that into specific deliverables that the creative team could produce. Required keen understanding of the capabilities of every member of the cross-functional team.
  • Managing Editor and creator of the monthly periodical Learn magazine. Grew readership to 50,000. Facilitated creative inspiration for the mission of the magazine and focused the energy of the team around that mission and its business purpose. Prepared editorial calendar, coordinated illustrations with articles, assigned writers, and tied the issue together in a theme through a letter from the editor. In its 2.5 years under her direction, never missed a deadline.
  • Lead editor for the Boeing Leadership Center, which included responsibilities for all print and Web materials on the team. Wrote the editing style guide for the Boeing Leadership Center. Edited print and web materials for customers such as the Boeing Leadership Center, the Boeing Institute for Aerospace Leadership, and Boeing Business Jets.

Marketing Coordinator, Technical Editor, and Regional Administrative Manager, Kleinfelder, Inc. 1989 to 1995.
Marketing Coordinator/Proposal Manager and Technical Editor for environmental engineering consulting firm. Wrote and edited all marketing materials, statements of qualifications, proposals, correspondence, staff resumes, and project descriptions. Published articles in the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce. Wrote and implemented style guide for all written communications. Designed a database used to catalogue all technical documents (e.g., articles, regulations, and books). Supervisor of three.

Volunteer Work: Awana Cubbies Director, Highlands Community Church, 2006 to present.
Serves as volunteer director of the pre-K program that introduces preschool-aged children to Bible biographies. Oversees a staff of over 20 team members with close to 80 children participating in the Cubbies program. Duties include preparing all aspects of the curriculum each week for the teachers to implement, maintaining the roster and room assignments, mentoring the teachers, among other things. Since 2010, participated on the Cubbies Advisory Team at Awana Headquarters in Chicago, Illinois, in the complete redesign of the Cubbies curriculum implemented in 2013. Writes and provides yearly edits for the Parent Handbook passed out to every parent, and Leader Guide, passed out to every teacher.
